The spring of the Rooster 2017 is approaching in a joyful and exhilarating atmosphere. To welcome overseas Vietnamese back to celebrate Tet in their homeland, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese - Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held the 2017 Homeland Spring Festival with the theme "The city named Uncle Ho - Shining Desire" on January 20, 2017 (December 23 in lunar calendar) in Ho Chi Minh City.

The festival includes many meaningful activities, imbued with national identity and culture such as the incense offering ceremony and the release of carp, the gathering of overseas Vietnamese to celebrate Spring, especially the Program of the President of Vietnam wishing overseas Vietnamese New Year and an art exchange program broadcast live on Vietnam Television and Ho Chi Minh City Television. Joining in wishing the overseas Vietnamese New Year, there were also leaders and former senior leaders of the Party and State, leaders of the country, leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and central ministries, departments, and branches; representatives of many provinces and cities, consular delegations and international organizations in Ho Chi Minh City.
